The Air Resources Board (ARB) has posted its AB32 Draft Scoping Plan for public review and comment. For those unfamiliar with AB32 or the ARB's role in implementing this law, this will be the State of California's plan for dealing with Greenhouse Gas Emissions and the potential impacts of Global Climate Change (GCC) over the next 50 years. No matter what you believe about GCC, the regulations and standards set by this plan will have a significant effect on the way we conduct business, government, and our daily lives. This isn't just about automobile mileage figures or industrial pollution. This plan deals with agriculture, transportation, the use and availability of renewable energy, forestry practices, consumer products, land use, manufacturing, waste management, and the movement of goods and services. I would suggest that everyone in the FoCuS community take a close look at this draft plan. It might be a good idea to consider commenting as a group and I know I plan to comment as an individual. Please pass this along to others who share our interests and concerns. See below for a link to the Plan and information on the public workshop set for July. Comments are due to ARB by August 1st.
