CALAVERAS COUNTY SEARCH AND RESCUE NEEDS VOLUNTEERS Information on Joining Calaveras SAR Calaveras County Search and Rescue may be contacted directly by phone (209) 754-6500 or by e-mail at info@calaverassar.org. Anyone serious about serving our community is encouraged to inquire. Medical aid, navigation, search, and rope & river rescue skills are encouraged but not required. Calaveras County Search and Rescue has an extensive training regimen for both obtaining and maintaining the predetermined level of competency in all disciplines of SAR. Additionally, highly skilled members are encouraged to aid in training and lead on team missions. All costs associated with personal equipment, time, and travel are paid by members out of their own pockets, without any promise of reimbursement. The costs are relatively low, but the time commitment is substantial. A pager fee of $45 is required and will be refunded when the pager is returned to the team. If you are an "Interested Party," please contact the Calaveras Sheriff's department and attend one of the regular monthly team meetings. As an interested party you are welcome to attend a meeting to determine if you wish to pursue Probationary Membership. You may be invited to attend further meetings and some team trainings;, team trainings may not always be possible due to liability issues. Before probationary membership can be granted to an interested party they must; 1) Sign a "release &
indemnity" form and other official paperwork. If all the above is met the interested party is granted probationary membership. |
